Hidalgo County Recognizes National Opioid and Substance Use Awareness Day

Hidalgo County Commissioners Court recently recognized September 21 as National Opioid and Substance Use Awareness Day, highlighting the importance of community collaboration in preventing overdose deaths and addressing substance use.

Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas was proud to join the Hidalgo County Health Department, Pharr Police Department Mental Health Unit, and other community partners for the proclamation presentation.

Through collaborative efforts such as Hidalgo County’s Naloxone vending machine initiative, free Naloxone (Narcan) is now available at five locations throughout Hidalgo County. Increasing access to this lifesaving resource is an important step toward overdose prevention and community health.
